Mary Zarob is a New York Trained designer who helps men and women select clothes that fit properly and make them look their best. Mary knows that style is a form of personal expression, and she works to cultivate it in all her clients, helping them develop a personal style that is not only unique and distinctive but also timeless. While it may be easy to go to a store and buy exactly what is on the mannequin, that doesn’t work for everyone.
Mary’s career in fashion began 20 years ago studying men’s fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. While living there, fashion constantly consumed and inspired her. Whether she was designing at Calvin Klein Jeans or Macy’s, the color, fabrics, textures, patterns, designs and prints all played crucial roles in the development of the garments she created. It was during this time that she refined her ability to create clothing where every aspect of distinctive style came together harmoniously.
Today, as a designer, tailor and shop proprietor, Mary works to educate her clients regarding their own personal style. She helps them learn what compliments their body type, what colors accentuate their features and how to build a wardrobe that allows them to conveniently pull a look together that makes them look put together.

In an effort to help men and women find their personal style, Mary goes the extra mile and gets to know her clients: their lifestyles, careers, hobbies, etc. She then helps them build a wardrobes that they enjoy wearing every day. Whether it’s a business wardrobe appropriate for those all-important meetings or a laid-back-back wardrobe to wear out with friends, Mary takes the time to get to know your needs.
Q. Contrary offers bespoke as well as custom-made suits, jackets, shirts and slacks. Mary will guide you through the process of selecting all the elements (fabric, fit, pockets, collars, buttons, etc.) and designing a one of kind garment that is made just for you.
Besides designing bespoke and custom garments, Q. Contrary offers image consulting, personal shopping and alterations. Many times what you have in your closet just needs a facelift and a fresh pair of eyes to make recommendations on how to put outfits together, where to wear certain garments or altering your clothing.
