How To Build A Golf Wardrobe

07/12/2022

With summer finally here at last, now is the perfect time to freshen up your golf clothes.  Here at Q. Contrary, we wanted to give you a few tips on how to create a golf wardrobe that can transcend the course. You might not play well, but you certainly can look like you do if you purchase the right key pieces.

We carry two golf lines that can help you do just that, but we’ll get to those specifics in a minute.  First, here are some simple suggestions to help you build a great golf wardrobe.

  • Golf shirts are the central item in pulling your golf wardrobe together so guys, don’t go cheap here. Many men buy their shirts too big. Make sure they fit properly; they’re not supposed to look like an oversized t-shirt.  Also, fabric matters.  Choose something that breathes, is quick drying, and has a little stretch as well UV protection.
  • Slacks are the number 2 item in your golf wardrobe. You want them to be comfortable (A little stretch is always good.), but not too baggy, or you’ll look sloppy.  Function and style go hand-in-hand, so slimmer is a better choice.
  • Mix and Match is okay and will extend your budget. By this I mean, wear last year’s purchases with something new, or even mix brands.
  • Golf shoes are not my forte` so I suggest asking a pro or a friend for advice in this area.
  • Belts and Socks: I carry both from TravisMathew golf wear, but again, there’s no need to stay brand specific.  Just select something that will complement your outfit.
  • Hats are a necessary accessory, especially in Arizona, where my store is located. They can be functional or worn to make a statement.  Many guys are sold on TravisMathew hats, which I carry, but there are a wide range of options available to today’s avid golfer.  Hats can make a fashion statement or be purely functional, it all depends on your personality.

For you golf fanatics, Q. Contrary, carries two lines of golf clothing:  Greyson Clothiers and TravisMathew.  Each has it own distinct look and fit, and both are quality brands.

Greyson Clothiers:  “A brand that extends far beyond the course, Greyson Clothiers breaks through the traditional rulebook of golf fashion.  By delivering timeless styles with a modern edge, Greyson offers a collection that wears equally well on and off the course.”  That’s a direct quote from their website, and that’s the main reason the brand is selling well both nationally and here at Q. Contrary.

Today’s modern golfer loves Greyson Clothiers.  Here’s why.  It provides something new in every aspect of the brand including fabric, pattern, and comfort.  In addition, it’s a quality product that wears well.  The fit is tighter, trimmer than traditional golf clothing, without sacrificing comfort.  New styles and looks have a cutting edge feel without going overboard, even when loud prints and patterns are incorporated.

TravisMathew:  Worn by many celebrities and athletes, TravisMathew is another golf brand that we carry at Q. Contrary.  It has a California beach vibe along with being classy and sophisticated.  In fact, you might want to call it a lifestyle brand, as it transitions beautifully from the links to a variety of casual settings.

Due to its comfortable relaxed fit, attention to detail, and excellent quality TravisMathew has a huge following.  In addition, the brand is also known for their amazing fabrics that look casual but still perform.  They mix polyester, cotton, spandex, Tencel and other fabrications to create blends that take the best properties of each and create something that looks great and withstands the test of time.  Continuity of style and fabric make it easy to mix and match new purchases with items from prior seasons.  All these attributes have contributed to making TravisMathew one of the leading golf/lifestyle brands in America.

Looking good and being stylish on the course and off can be expensive.  Hopefully, I’ve given you some ideas on how to create a multi-purpose golf wardrobe that makes you look good and feel comfortable.  I’m Mary from Q. Contrary.  Check out my shop in Phoenix at 3168 East Camelback Road or visit my online store.  I’d love to help you freshen up your wardrobe, even if you don’t play golf.
